On Sunday, December 12th, a group of volunteers from the Sant Nirankari Mission Los Angeles center hosted one of their annual charity drives with this year’s focus as a Holiday Food & Toy Drive-Thru. SNM LA’s goal was to give gifts and food to ill and less fortunate kids in Norwalk area of LA. Nearly 300 families (1,000 people) were safely helped by the organization’s events.
The Holiday Hope event took place at the SNM center’s parking lot with lines of cars spanning across four blocks. Local and global press were in attendance in addition to a livestream captured on their Facebook page. The fire and sheriff’s departments were present to give their support and were honored with certificates of appreciation along with other special attendees, Claudia Dodson from Ronald McDonald House in Long Beach, and Shilpa Ajit Shahani (MD) from the City of Hope Department of Pediatrics.
The event was inspired by the quote of His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji, “Hope says no darkness is dark enough” to give hope and faith to those experiencing hardships, especially in current times where many families are still without jobs as a result of COVID and/or are suffering with illnesses.
