Being Thankful

Many times we find ourselves complaining about things that we can find a portion of gratuity in. There are innumerable corroborative reasons that we should look to find reasons to be thankful, instead of complain, no matter the situation.

Some of these reasons include improving our relationships with others and improving our mental health. For example, if a glass is filled only halfway, instead of looking at the glass, and thinking, “Wow, I am so unlucky, the glass is half empty”, you can say, “Wow, I am so lucky to have a glass that is half full, there are some people that barely ever get clean water.” In addition, gratuity often leads to other positive emotions such as joy, happiness, or satisfaction.

If you are grateful, you will make other people happier and more relaxed. For example, if you are not satisfied with the food your mother made for dinner, instead of telling your mom about the food and making her feel bad, you should be grateful that you have food while some others don’t. This would help your mom relax and be at more ease too.

Finally, we can build healthy habits by expressing gratitude. For example, if instead of expressing anger and complaint when you fall, and hurt yourself, you can be thankful that the situation wasn’t worse. This would not only alleviate your own stress, but it would, in turn, lead to the people surrounding you knowing that you can handle many situations well.
